PREREQUISITES. (What you need to run the software.)
PC: You need to have Microsoft Excel or Office 2013 or later, or Office 365 (Desktop version, not online version). We recommend that you have a minimum of 8GB RAM, or when running the software that there is at least 1GB of RAM free. You can check this from Task Manager (right click on Task bar)
MAC: Excel for Mac version 15.19 (160206) and OS X v10.10 "Yosemite" or later. IMPORTANT! We have had some issues licensing Macs due to customers not being on the latest update. Make sure you have the latest update (Excel -> Help -> Check for Updates)
iPad: Not supported.
It will NOT work with the online versions of office (Office 365 Online or Excel Online.
You can find out which version you have from your Programs and Features -> uninstall or change a program, or from within Excel -> File -> Account.)
TROUBLESHOOTING EXCEL PROBLEMS:
Click here to download Microsoft OffCAT Office Scanner.
This great tool from Microsoft will help fix your Excel, Word and Outlook programs. Make sure you run the tool repeatedly until you see the message 'No issues detected'. This tool
is really worth having regardless.
INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE (MAC AND PC):
The software consists of 2 parts:
A: The Caldes Excel Template Model. (This is the Excel workbook with the formulas in it.)
B: The Microsoft App Store Caldes Add-In. (This is a cloud based control panel, which controls the Workbook and helps you build your project.)
FIRST TIME INSTALLATION: To install the software for the first time (trial or full system) follow the steps below.
UPGRADING: If you are an existing customer and want to upgrade an existing template, start at step 2.
Microsoft App Store Caldes Add-In
The first thing you need is the Caldes V8 Developer Excel Add-In
Caldes V8 Developer is available to download on the Microsoft Office Add-In store. Installation is quick and simple.
V8 Developer is based around a well established Excel Template. You need to install this on your computer as follows:
Install the Excel Template file from here.
Then come back to this page and continue with Step 3.
Existing users - if you want to upgrade your template, then it is the same process.
License / Free Trial
To use the software you need to add a license. You can do this yourself, without contacting us or purchasing. Follow these steps:
Open the Caldes Template (Double click on the V8Developer Excel icon on your desktop, if you ran the setup program.)
The V8 Developer Desktop Icon
You may see a message about circular references. This is normal. For instructions on turning this off, click here.
Caldes will not work in Excel Online. Excel Online is too slow. If your template opens up in Excel Online, close it, open Excel Off-line and then open the template from within Excel itself.
Excel Offline - Correct
Excel Online - Wrong
Now add the Caldes Task Bar Add-In:
(Excel -> 'Insert' Tab -> My Add-ins (or 'My Apps' on older versions of Excel)-> Double click on the Caldes Icon)
You will automatically be asked to Log in. To do this press button H2 and follow instructions.
Once you have successfully logged in you will see:
'Welcome to Caldes V8 Developer. This is the "Task Pane (TP)"'
This means that you have fully installed all of the components required. Now see step 4 below.
SETTING UP YOUR TEMPLATE FILE FOR FAST ACCESS
You don't want to have to add the store 'Add-In' and then the license every time you start a new appraisal.
Therefore, to speed things up, follow these steps carefully:
Following the licensing step above, go to the File menu in Excel and select 'Save As'.
Then click 'Browse' and you will see a pop up window.
Change the 'Save as type' box to say 'Excel Template (*.xltx)'.
Then go to the folder where your template is saved (see text in purple below) and save over the original template file.
If you are on Windows, not Mac and have installed the template using the setup program above, then this file will be:
Find this file, click on it and then click 'Save'. (Say yes to replace the original.) Do NOT just save it anywhere or you will get confused as to which is the latest master template.
(If you have installed manually or are on a Mac, you just need to find where you put the V8-developer-master.xltx file.)
IMPORTANT: Now quit Excel completely!!!
From this point onwards you can now start a new appraisal with everything already set up.
To do that simply open your template file. Important: Do not open it from your 'Recent' Excel list.
To open the template file, assuming that you are on Windows, not Mac and have installed the template using the setup program and not manually, simply double click on the V8Developer desk top icon short cut.
The V8 Developer Desktop Icon
Caldes will not work in Excel Online. Excel Online is too slow. If your template opens up in Excel Online, close it, open Excel Off-line and then open the template from within Excel itself.
Excel Offline - Correct
Excel Online - Wrong
